Realiza-se no próximo dia 21 de Maio, em Lisboa, pelas 17:30, na sala 512 A da Faculdade de Ciências Económicas e Empresariais da Universidade Católica Portuguesa, uma sessão de apresentação do livro Estado, Sociedade Civil e Administração Pública: Para um novo paradigma do serviço público.
Os keynote speakers serão António Carrapatoso e José Manuel Moreira, numa sessão moderada por João César das Neves que contará também com a participação de Carlos Jalali e do terceiro coordenador do livro.
Uma iniciativa do Center for Ethics, Business and Economics (CEBE) da Universidade Católica Portuguesa.

Uma lição sobre moeda e crédito
Taxa Única de Impostos: IRS, IRC e IVA
Vantagens:
- Simplificação fiscal
- Democratização da decisão sobre política fiscal (será muito fácil analisar e decidir sobre diferentes propostas eleitorais/orçamentais para uma taxa única a ser aplicada aos 3 impostos).
Proposta de partida: taxa de 20% para o IRS/IRC/IVA.
Lembrar que 20% é já a taxa em sede de IRS aplicada a diversos veículos de poupança (Dívida Pública, juros de depósitos). Uma taxa de 20% em IRS/IRC tornaria mais neutras diversas fontes de rendimento.
A experiência de outros países:
"Slovakia started with a horribly complicated code—replete with five tax brackets ranging from 10 percent to 38 percent, 90 different exemptions, an additional 27 items that carried their own particular tax rates, etc.
In october 2003, the confusion was reined in through the setting of a single rate of 19 percent for the corporate income tax, personal income tax, and value-added tax.

"Money Supply", by Anna J. Schwartz, e vou dedicar-me a fazer a sua crítica passo a passo.
"The abandonment of convertibility of money into a commodity since August 15, 1971, when President Nixon discontinued converting U.S. dollars into gold at $35 per ounce, has made the U.S. and other countries' monies into fiat money—money that national monetary authorities have the power to issue without legal constraints. "
A primeira objecção vai para o uso da palavra "discontinued". Bonita expressão para representar a incapacidade de um Estado em honrar as suas dívidas.

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul’s newest book, “The Revolution: A Manifesto”, is number one on the New York Times Best Sellers list for May 18th, 2008.
